Why should I use UP2CHOICE?

We care about your restaurant. We care about what you serve to your customers, how unique your dining experience is, and how easily you can attract and communicate with your audience. Our commitment is to make sure that your potential customers know what is happening at your place and don’t miss any important updates. Our food and drink discovery platform with personalized recommendations ensures that you will be able to reach more customers than you realize.

UP2CHOICE is free and easy to use without any limitations on number of venues and events, deals and specials you may add.

Which venues can be listed?

There are different types of venues, in addition to varied restaurants, that can be found on UP2CHOICE, such as breweries, casinos, entertainment centers, hotels, museums, nightclubs, and wineries. To be listed on our website, all of them should have a restaurant, lounge or other tasting and dining room inside.

At the present moment, we don’t accept listings for catering places, sandwich shops, food trucks or fast food restaurants.

How can I add a venue?

If you are affiliated with the venue, you can list it on UP2CHOICE easily and free. To add your venue, please register or sign in as a business owner and use this form. Please pay attention to the fields that are required to be filled out. We strongly recommend that you carefully select and add signature dishes and beverages that will help our users to find and choose your place.

Adding images and the logo of your place will help your listing to stand out. While uploading images of your venue via this form, you may designate one of them as a main photo which will be displayed as a cover photo on your restaurant page. You can change images or delete them completely any time later.

I found my restaurant on UP2CHOICE. How can I claim ownership of it?

Before adding your venue, please check if it is already listed. To do so, enter the name of your restaurant in our search bar on your dashboard in your profile. If you see its name in the drop-down menu, you can press “Claim Venue” button to confirm that you are affiliated with this establishment.

After checking and approving your ownership request, you will be notified by email and receive a full access to this listing. You will be able to add events, deals and specials for this venue immediately and manage all previously published happenings.

If your ownership request is denied, you will be notified by email. You may contact us at [email protected] to verify the matter.

What is it important to do to help potential customers find my venue on UP2CHOICE?

Location is important, but how do you catch the eye of satiated Internet users?

For each listed restaurant and published events, deals, specials and news, you may add relevant food and drink tags, which are used for enhancing search efficiency and providing personalized recommendations to our users. When you select tags to add, please concentrate on key dishes and drinks that define your restaurant concept and are usually the most popular and favorable choice of your customers. Please avoid the temptation to list each ingredient, side dish and garnish.

Where and how can I add dishes and drinks?

You may add dishes and drinks tags for your venue via the form add venue. Additionally, you may list ingredients, dishes, drinks and diet for each event, deal and special.

All added tags are summarized to rank the published content and to provide personalized recommendations to our users.

What are signature dishes on the venue form about?

You may add a short description of your signature dishes or culinary style which will be viewed as a text on your venue page. The text should not exceed 200 symbols.

What’s the difference between ingredients and dishes?

For each event, deal and special apart from dishes and deals you may add ingredients as well. We added this option because the difference between the name of the dish and the main ingredient is often blurred. Please use ingredients to emphasize key components instead of listing all elements that are used to prepare a specific dish.

Guidelines for adding ingredients, dishes and drinks

Start typing the name of the ingredient, dish or drink in the relevant input and select the best matching variant from the drop-down menu. After selection, press “Done” button to save the selected option and add it as a tag.

To provide an effortless search experience for our audience, please avoid unnecessary buzz words and clichés that can be often found in bewildering menu descriptions. We designed UP2CHOICE to focus the limited attention of our audience on what really matters to them and ease the burden of their choice.

To add food and drinks tags in the proper way, please follow these recommended rules:

1. Start typing the name of food and beverages to select the best relevant option, for example:

  • “Pizza” or “Pizza Margherita”
  • “Tagliatelle”
  • “Beef Wellington”

2. Names of fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, as well as dairy (including cheese varieties), meat and seafood products are listed as ingredients. Different herbs, spices, nuts and seeds are also listed as ingredients.

3. Some categories are listed both as dishes and ingredients to ease the process of adding tags. They include:

  • Seafood species (e.g. “tuna”, “turbot”, “lobster”, “Arctic char”)
  • Types of meat (e.g. “pork”, “chicken”, “wild boar”)
  • Cuts of meat (e.g. “chicken fillet”, “duck breast”)
  • Steak types (e.g. “dry-aged steak”, “T-bone steak”, “tomahawk steak”)
  • Staple grains (e.g. “rice”, “lentils”)

There is no need to duplicate the same key ingredients in both ingredients and dishes inputs.

4. When the cooking method is viewed as an important factor, you may try to find and add a dish with the cooking method included in its name, for example “steamed mussels”, “sauteed spinach”, “braised beef”, “roasted gnocchi”.

5. We took into account that some common dishes, such as “fries” and “wings” can have alternative widely used names. You can try to enter the one you’ve got used to.

6. The current version of UP2CHOICE uses American English to add ingredients, dishes and drinks rather than British English, for instance “zucchini” versus “courgette” or “beet” versus “beetroot”. Nevertheless, our users will be able to find your entered information by using British English alternative names in the search bar as well.

7. When you add names of dishes from thematic cuisines, please try to enter the most common variant to ease search and understanding for users.

8. Please try to avoid using foreign culinary terms or mixing culinary jargon, for instance “Parmigiana Chicken” or “Chicken Parmigiana” instead of “Chicken Parmesan”. Think about the clarity and convenience, as well as the odds that a person will be looking for dishes like “Chicken wings alla diavola”, “Insalata tricolore”, “Affettati misti”, etc.

Do you have any examples?

Here are some patterns for converting items from the restaurant menu into food and drink tags on UP2CHOICE:

  • Instead of Gently Seared Scallops try to enter “scallops” or “seared scallops”
  • Instead of Applewood Smoked Bacon-Wrapped Sea Scallop Skewers add “bacon wrapped scallop”
  • Instead of Roast Chicken Breast with Lemon and Herb Jus Served on a Bed of Sauté Spinach add “roast chicken breast” and “sauteed spinach”
  • Instead of Homemade Smoked Mackerel Pate add “mackerel pate”

  • Instead of Mushroom and Brie Tart add “mushroom tart” or simply “tart”
  • Instead of Cheese Board with Biscuits enter “cheese platter”
  • Instead of Warm Beef Salad add “beef salad”
  • Instead of South Carolina Grits select “grits”
  • Instead of Tartare of Hamachi Marinated in a Dashi Flavored Vinaigrette add “hamachi tartare”
  • Instead of Pistachio Crusted Atlantic Haddock add “haddock”
  • Instead of Imported Durum Wheat Rigatoni choose “rigatoni”
  • Instead of 21 days aged rib eye steak select “dry-aged ribeye”
How many food and drink tags can be added?

We do not recommend adding more than 20 tags for each restaurant, event, deal and special. Instead of overloading your customers with choices and excessive details, try to concentrate on the most critical menu items.

Missing any ingredients, dishes and drinks?

Contact us at [email protected] and send information regarding the ingredients, dishes and beverages that you would like to see on UP2CHOICE.

What do trending tags on the venue page mean?

Trending tags on each venue page show the most widely used dishes, drinks, ingredients and diets (any or all of them) that have been added as tags for a venue and all its published happenings.

If happenings are added for each day of week, then trending tags will show which ingredients, dishes and beverages are listed on the menu of all events, deals and specials added on this specific day.

If no tags are added for a venue or its related events, deals and specials, in this case trending tags show which dishes, drinks, ingredients or diets (any or all of them) are popular for the same location.

What about adding events, deals and specials?

You can submit an unlimited number of events, deals and specials for your venue absolutely free and easily.

When adding any type of happenings, the venue name with its address and website URL will be shown automatically. You may update, add images or edit your submitted events, deals and specials later at any time.

How can I add events?

To submit an event, use the form add event. Please note that the following information is required:

  • Event category. Select the most relevant one from a drop-down menu.
  • Title (up to 75 symbols). Please avoid using caps lock and varied symbols (#, @).
  • Start and end date of the event. There is an option to add a start and end time as well.
  • Description of the event, which should be at least one sentence, but not exceed 5000 symbols.

Optional fields for filling out include:

  • Event cost. At the cost field, you should insert only the number and the currency symbol (i.e. $45, £10). If participation at the event is free of charge, select the checkbox Free.
  • Please note that there is no option to add a price range. If the cost is not provided, it will be listed as “NA” in the cost field of the event.
  • Dishes, drinks and ingredients, mentioned in the menu of the event. If the menu matches any dietary requirements (for instance, there are gluten free dishes), you may select and add relevant diets.
  • Image for the event listing. Please use only images you have the right to use.
  • RSVP details, including contact person and phone number, as well as a link to purchase tickets if applicable.
How can I add deals?

To submit a deal, use the form add deal. Please note that the following information is required:

  • Deal category. Select the most relevant one from a drop-down menu.
  • Title (up to 75 symbols). Please avoid using caps lock and varied symbols(#, @).
  • Description of the deal, which should be at least one sentence, but not exceed 5000 symbols.
  • Date and time of the deal.
  • Taking into account that deals can be ongoing and always available, different options are presented for your convenience. You may select:
  • 1. Start and end date of the deal. If the deal runs on a constant basis, select checkbox Always Available.

    2. And/ or select days of week (e.g. Monday, Wednesday, Friday).

    3. And/ or add start and end time. If the deal is available during entire duration of the restaurant service, select checkbox All Day Long.

When is the best time to publish events, deals and specials?

The sooner you publish your updates, the quicker they appear in the news feed of your potential customers, and they will have more time to plan their activities. Nevertheless, if you publish deals and specials on the same day, they will be visible to your audience as well.

How can I add news?

News is an article, covering information related to restaurants, dining recommendations, food or drinks. Our aim is to create a collection of interesting, entertaining and informational stories about culinary and dining topics. You may add your news or save an interesting story that you’ve found elsewhere.

If you plan to copy stories from other resources, please make sure you have a license or permission of the copyrighter holder to do so. When adding news from other resources, please include the author of the article and a link to the resource. Additionally, please indicate that the news is copied.

How do I edit the published content?

You need to sign in to your UP2CHOUCE account to edit your venue listings and submitted content. You can press the Settings icon on the venue or happening’s pages that you plan to edit. After pressing on the Edit link, the page will be opened in the editing mode. After making changes, please press the Save button.

How can I delete my venue and the published content?

First, please sign into your UP2CHOICE account. If you wish to delete your submitted events, deals, specials and news, open the required page and press on the Settings icon. After pressing on the Delete link, the page will be completely deleted.

If your venue is closed, you may indicate its status by opening it in editing mode and adding Closed to the name of the venue. Additionally, you may contact us at [email protected] and update us regarding its status.
